Thanks for the feedback, suggestions and tips. I ended up merging the two trees, to include my paternal biological ancestors, maternal biological ancestors, and maternal adoptive ancestors into one tree. Overall, it worked very nicely. It took me a bit to get the merged tree to “prefer” her biological family over her adoptive family, but once I found the right button, it worked fine. After the merge, my color coding was a mess so I’ve turned that off and will figure that out later.
Ross, thanks for your comment regarding people merges. I only had one person in both trees but neither the automatic nor manual merge worked very well. With facts such as residence, I was forced to choose between one or the other, even where different dates were involved. I ended up merging the person manually, then rebuilding the facts, using information from the original trees.
