Is a NO CONNECTION issue in FTM related to the current issue between FTM & Ancestry?

I'm having a NO CONNECTION issue in FTM right now between FTM & Ancestry. I haven't been keeping up with the current situation that's been going on with FTM & Ancestry. Is this NO CONNECTION issue part of that situation?

I am currently logged into Ancestry.com in my web browser like I usually am. I have also tried going under the Help menu and choosing "Connect FTM To Ancestry" and typing in my Ancestry username & password. But when I click on "Connect" the message "Username or password not recognized" appears.

I've tried this for all 4 of my trees in FTM.

What version of FTM are you using? Only 2017 will show a connection.

So you have a new machine,
Is it Windows or Mac?
If windows, what version?
How much RAM do you have?
How do you connect to the internet, dial up, DSL, cable?
Who is your internet provider?
What protection programs do you have running?
All of the above will affect your speed

List the steps that you take to do your searching?
What happens when you click on the Media icon near top of the screen??

There seems to be a lot of discussion about FTM problems and connectivity to ancestry. Most of the problems with FTM may have to do with Ancestry upgrading their AWS server infrastructure. This blog isn't the best pace for answers or solution (although there is expertise here).

Regarding a) - You clearly don’t understand how web traffic management works; there is absolutely no evidence that this relates to any of the ongoing Ancestry issues being reported.

I just wish to thank everyone for this thread. I've been pulling my hair out a bit as I have a tree I have been working on for a friend which needed to be printed for next week.
I always back up after syncs but have been unable to sync for a good two weeks now.
I would never have thought to sync on Orange but for this thread.
I just have and it is a success.

On FTM 2014 photos appeared on extended family charts.
This does not happen on my FTM 2017 any ideas??

Frankly, I've always been of the opinion that MacKiev (FTM) has always tried to divert negative attention from themselves and their flaky software back toward Ancestry being the problem. I've read all the comments. I have used FTM and Ancestry for almost 30 years and I have never seen such BS as what comes out of MacKiev. There is no way you are going to get anything but the run around from them and theirs. Their Facebook group will block you if you get persistent about asking. That page is all about blowing smoke. I would like to know what is the contractual relationship between FTM and Ancestry. Just because Ancestry is making changes, how do we know that is actually the source of the FTM problems. This is ridiculous!! You cannot be expected to sync a significant backlog of changes from FTM to Ancestry or vice versa while running under the 'Orange' warning status and be able to do a line item comparison. So what if you do a manual backup. Are you going to check and verify 100 plus changes if a 2000 to 8000 person database?? If that's what's expected then let's all go back to a Big Chief tablet and a 3 ring binder.

You can always go back and post your tree using an older version of FTM (pre MacKiev) on Ancestry's WorldConnect. Oh wait, it's been down for 6 months. BTW, I started out on a Big Chief tablet too.

In the Extended Family Chart Options pane. the Pull down beside the Label "Pictures" select "Thumbnail" or "Photo"

I got a red message yesterday saying access had been blocked because of the maintenance work at Ancestry. Try again. I am getting an orange indicator now.

I am having similar problems with Mac version. Particularly frustrated at the disappearance of the 'categories' on left hand side following a search. Have to go into the actual Ancestry programme to use the facility - wasting much time.

Are we alone?

Don't sync, MacKiev kindly posted a note on their actual website and Facebook site

Right on their site and also Facebook, MacKiev provided an update to the month of May syncing issues due to Ancestry outages:

"ongoing interruptions in Ancestry connectivity ... advise everyone to avoid syncing, uploading and downloading until we have confirmed that the connection with Ancestry is stable ... maintenance was expected to have concluded on May 31 ... (per Ancestry) work is ongoing and a high priority ... make frequent backups of your tree."

I synced one day during the month of May when all was a go and will wait for the all clear, not risking my 3 years of work. 100% disappointed in Ancestry.

Connecting Family Tree Maker to sync with existing tree on Ancestry

The first time I joined Ancestry, I synced my Family Tree Maker tree to it. I let my subscription lapse for a few years on Ancestry, but continued updating my research on FTM. My FTM file and my Ancestry tree have different names. I would like to sync my updated FTM file to my Ancestry tree, but don't see that option. Is it possible? Thanks in advance.

First, you can only sync with FTM 2017. So, if you are using an older version it will not connect to the web or sync.

This is 2018 and I am having this problem, also. It’s the same scenario. My father’s first wife passed away before he met and married my mother and then they had me. His first wife is NOT my stepmother. I don’t want her listed as so.

There is no FTM 2018, If you mean 2017, then the bug just may still be there.
Submit a bug report and/or even contact MacKiev at their Live Chat.

It just may help if you were to post a screen shot of the area that shows the step mother relationship?
