The upgrade is just one disc Russ. Seems to be the full programme as far as I can tell. The load up process didn't ask or search for previous issues. During one of my many loadings, I had removed from my PC anything relating to FTM and it still loaded up OK. The upgrade disc gives you Essentials membership for a one month trial period, getting started guide and tutorials, so I am not sure what else you get with the full package, at over twice the price.

Re: FTM 2010 Upgrade software
Thanks Russ but I definately do have just an upgrade version of FTM 2010 (Cat no 2225A.) £18.99. The full version of 2010 (£46.95)has been delayed in the UK to 9th October, the UK Upgrade version is available now. Even the first tech person I spoke to at FTM in America wasn't aware of this product, but I got it through Amazon and it is also available through S&N Geneology. There is the possibility that the upgrade
Now I have seen the format it looks pretty good, so I hope it remains stable.
Thanks for the blog link.

Re: FTM 2010 Upgrade software
Hi John, Russ. The problem definately is the downloading from Ancestry into a *.ftm file.
If anyone else finds this issue, it works if you save your tree from the Ancestry site as a GEDCOM, save it on your PC then load it from there.
The Family Tree Maker 2010 upgrade software is a genuine, but apparently little known programme to upgrade your old version of FTM to 2010 without buying the whole version.
Note sure if this issue is just on the upgrade version only.
Thanks for your comments.
John

Re: FTM 2010 Upgrade software
Hi John, thanks for this, sounds possible. Trouble is, I followed your guidance and whereas you have logical, readable text, I get just get garbled text and symbols.
Is it possible for the download to be corrupted?.

FTM 2010 Upgrade software
I purchased a 2010 upgrade disc, but it won't allow the GEDCOM file of my family tree that I download from my Ancestry.co.uk site (part of the set up process). It imports it on to my PC but locks out when it tries to load it into FTM.
I have contacted FTM, they were unaware of a 2010 upgrade disc and blame Avanquest the software company. Unsurprisingly Avanquest blame FTM.
I have deleted, removed, clean booted, reinstalled, removed user data files, re-loaded. Any other suggestions please?

Re: "Your Search returned zero good matches"
Same problem, noticed it a couple weeks ago and still have the issue.
I took the suggestion of Unclicking some of the boxes at the bottom & found that will give results again.

Look again at the results, the ones I am getting seem completely random and missing many entries that I know were there previously.

Re: Orange Sync' Warning
We are all experiencing this issue but I am happy to wait until the engineers/technicians get this mess sorted - life is too short to get hung up about it. Once we get the 'green light', it is my intention to download my tree from Ancestry into FTM as a new tree prior to doing a sync on my current one. This is as a precaution in case there is a major hiccup during the sync with the current linked tree. In the meantime I am working solely in my tree on Ancestry, they have assured subscribers that their data is safe.

Re: Orange Sync' Warning
Thank you Ross and Abby. I now have a better idea of what's going on. Like Abby, I'm not a risk taker and will simply wait until things improve. Like Ross, I would expect better from Ancestry. At work, if I had let something stay broken or unusable for any period of time, I would've been fired!

Amber or Red Sync Warnings for 10 days since 16.05.2018
I have made substantial additions to my tree but have been unable to sync for the past 10 days as I am getting a continuous red or amber "traffic light" warning. It is most exasperating - is there a major problem and are others similarly affected?

Re: Amber or Red Sync Warnings for 10 days since 16.05.2018
Yes and Yes! This has been discussed at length here, it's due to Ancestry carrying out maintenance / server upgrades. The say it should be finished by the end of the month, and claim that everything will then be wonderful! (;-) See the discussion currently just below yours: https://www.ancestry.co.uk/boards/topics.software.famtreemak...
Actually, if you read the message on an amber alert (not a red one, they are still the standard "sync disabled" message), you'll see that they've expanded it to explain the situation more fully and to provide a link for more details, as in the attached screenshot I took just now.

Yes Likewise, When you think that FTM 2017/Ancestry, and family Search are all linked together and also they are the most expensive research software out there, Its about time the Mackiev got there act together, ever since upgrading from FTM 2014, it all went wrong and us researchers are paying the price, Sort it, You had plenty of time, Now its scheduled for a major update on the 31st May, god knows what will happen then

Re: Amber or Red Sync Warnings for 10 days since 16.05.2018
I think there's some confusion here - it's not FTM that's scheduled for a major update as far as I'm aware, it's Ancestry's servers, and it's not something that's happening ON 31st May, that's simply the date when they say their maintenance and upgrades will be completed, and when the disruption to FTM syncing and connectivity should be resolved.
While I agree that FTM (and for that matter, Ancestry) is far from perfect, with many unfixed bugs, poor design, inconsistent behaviour and poor performance, I still think it's better than any of the competition, warts and all. I upgraded to FTM2017 and it's still a great improvement. Yes, the sync issue is a pain at the moment, but I've been successfully syncing even during the current oranges (and between the frequent reds!) without problems, while in the old FTM2014 days I would frequently end up with syncs failed for no apparent reason, losing my link and getting in a total mess and having to upload again. For me at least, with FTM2017 those days are thankfully gone.
Sadly, from the evidence so far I don't think SMK are likely/able to make any dramatic improvements in FTM, just a few fixes, tweaks and "improvements" (some of which, such as the ability to select a tree view background colour, are in my opinion rather of waste of effort when there are still many long-outstanding bugs that are not fixed)

I have been unable to sync because of weather alerts for at least 10 days. No green lights unless it happens overnight. Anyone else experiencing this long a time to sync?

Some users have recently been experiencing technical issues when using Ancestry.com. We’re currently undertaking a series of planned system enhancements that may result in intermittent site issues through Thursday, May 31, 2018. Once complete, they will improve site performance and enable more records, more hints, and more connections, making the platform even more valuable for our community. Please know that your data is safe with us. All the work you have done on your trees will be preserved even if you are experiencing some difficulties as the result of this upgrade. We appreciate how frustrating this has been and thank you very much for bearing with us during this period.

Re: "Your Search returned zero good matches"
Updating from 23.1 build 343 to 23.1 build 480 fixed it for me. My FTM software was telling me that the 343 was current but that isn't true. I would have saved a lot of time and aggravation if I had known to look for an update. The update is free so take the few minutes to do the update.

Re: "Your Search returned zero good matches"
Been on 480 for a while, everything was working fine until something happened at the beginning of May. We need a solution based on root cause analysis.

I see that too.
Yes, they are doing maintenance until end of may that they think will resolve this issue.
I have been synching successfully when the condition is "orange". They suggest not doing this. But, I have had no problems in an "orange" state.
