One does NOT need to copy and paste, as Word will open the RTF file but needs to be saved as a MS Word document.

FTM Places Workspace problem ?
When using the Places workspace I'm suddenly seeing just white space where the map is usually located - any one else having this problem or is it just me ?

Re: Exporting into Word
Any time I have opened the FTM rtf file in Word, the formatting is all over the place. That is why I find copying from the Open window works better for me.

Do you find that it is working now? lol...of course not, because it isn't.

Just tried the copy and paste and the frame come with the copy.
NO advantage in doing this.
Hopefully MacKiev with fixt this.

Re: Is There a Replacement for Family Tree Maker?
If you have been following all of these threads and Face Book, you will see that ancestry and FTM are working on it. It seems that Ancestry on it as they have been putting new servers.
Also note that Family Search is also having issues with their webpages.

Re: Is There a Replacement for Family Tree Maker?
Actually, yes it is working. With the great forecast sync alert, I only sync when it is green. I did a back-up beforehand knowing that Ancestry is updating their servers and having issues. I just did a sync on May 18th.

Re: Is There a Replacement for Family Tree Maker?
FTM and sync are working fine for me. As mentioned already I only sync when the Sync Weather Report is green and I backup first. I don’t do research in FTM.

Re: "Your Search returned zero good matches"
Speaking to McKiev online help it appears that this problem is to do with the number of boxes you have ticked at the bottom of the search page whan you do a new search.
If you tick just one of the 'Historical Recored'; 'Family Trees'; 'Stories & Publications'; or 'Photos & Maps' boxes the search works as it should and returns the correct results.
There are some combinations of two boxes that works but ticking all four boxes for some reason stops the search working.
At least this is a workaround while they fix the problem.

AbbyKatNZ ,
I just found that if I "Export to PDF" and then do the Copy and Paste into MS Word, the frames are NOT there.
BUT, each line is treated as a new paragraph, so one needs to remove the "End of Paragraph" marker at the end of each line that should not bet there.
This appears to be the best work around.

Re: "Your Search returned zero good matches"
They are correct in saying that if you only tick one box then the "Your search returned zero good matches" disappears. However, the results that are returned not generally based on the search criteria entered. The most relevant results being displayed at the top feature is also not working. Many results are missing that were there previously and reducing the breadth of the search is also not working. This really cannot be regarded as a workaround.

Re: "Your Search returned zero good matches"
I have been following this thread since day 1 and have NOT had any of these error messages.
I have tried every combination of the different check boxes, including all checked (Default) and all of them do not give me this error, but the display of found hits.
I have checked this by using, Ancestry, Family Search, Rootsweb, Yahoo, Bing and Duck Duck Go and all seem to work as they should.
I am and have been since it's release running version 23.1 on a Windows 10 machine with a Comcast, Cat 5 connection to the internet. My default browser out side of FTM is Edge.
After playing around in writing the reply, I have now gotten the "Blank Area" with a set of numbers Results when I click on Categories. There are all kinds of Records that are listed when viewing Records.
I have yet to see this error message "Your search returned zero good matches"

Orange Sync' Warning
I haven't sync'd in about six weeks because the "weather report" is always orange. Is it just me or is it everyone? The time of day makes no difference Let me know and thanks.

Re: Orange Sync' Warning
No, it's not just you! Ancestry are doing maintenance work and upgrading servers, which will (hopefully) resolve the situation, by 31st May they claim. They've recently (and rather belatedly) updated the warning you get when you try to sync, which now says "[...] Ancestry is currently performing maintenance that can impact features such as sync" and a link to https://support.mackiev.com/724174-Ancestry-Issues-and-FTM-2... which explains the situation in more detail.
I used to get greens at least in the morning (UK time), but it does seem to be pretty much continuously orange at the moment, with not infrequent reds as well. I have been syncing on orange on occasion, with no problems so far, but of course you do so "at your own risk", even with a backup first. It's not made clear WHEN you might want to restore that backup either - always after a sync crash (which fortunately I've never had)? if the alert is orange after you synced? or simply when you're suspicious something went wrong?
I have to say I don't have any faith in the much touted "Weather alert". As far as I'm aware, it's purely an indication of recent (un-)reliability of the connection, not any form of forecast, and as such, provides no guarantee that a sync won't fail even if it's green when you start. The fact that you can have a green and rather childish "perfect syncing weather today!" message straight after hours of orange and even red alerts, doesn't inspire me with much confidence. The time on the message is also misleading - it suggests it's a specifically date-stamped message, but in fact it's simply the current system date and time (unhelpfully in UTAH time, with UTC as a grudging concession to non-US users), so serves no useful purpose at all.
All in all, I think the weather alert is mainly designed to "scare" people off syncing when the servers are busy, to reduce the load, and to divert attention from the fact that the sync system really isn't very robust and can corrupt your data if it fails or is interrupted. You have to remember that the "Weather alert" never existed before and was only introduced by SMK because of serious issues with syncing during beta testing of FTM2017.
A sync system (and I've been involved in designing and implementing many over the years) should be solid and reliable, but always "fail-safe", with full automatic roll-back or roll-forward in the event of unavoidable interruptions like a network failure. Just having a message effectively saying "it might not work at the moment, so I wouldn't sync now if I were you, but take a backup anyway" is just plain amateurish, to be honest.
Sadly, I don't see any evidence that SMK (in collaboration with Ancestry) are really up to providing such a robust sync system, when they can't even fix simple bugs months or years after they've been reported, so I think we just have to live with it.

Re: Orange Sync' Warning
PS even the Weather Alert status isn't consistent or reliable! Earlier on I had an orange flag on the connection icon, but attempting to sync showed a red alert box, even though the connection icon was, and stayed, resolutely orange. Conversely, just now I have a red flag on the connection icon, but attempting to sync shows me only an orange alert and would presumably let me go ahead!

Re: "Your Search returned zero good matches"
My web search stopped working sometime this month. It always says "Your Search returned zero good matches" regardless of how much or little information is used in the search. I've never been so frustrated at this. I have to do all research on Ancestry and then sync to get the info into FTM.

Re: "Your Search returned zero good matches"
Thanks for figuring out a temporary workaround. I just tried, and web search worked with all boxes checked except family trees. Checking the Family Trees box will only work if all other boxes are unchecked.

Re: "Your Search returned zero good matches"
It's very strange - my FTM searches do seem to work OK, and unlike you I don't get the "zero good matches" message, even with all four boxes ticked. The only way for me to get that message is to tick the "Match all terms exactly" check-box, which is what I would expect.
However, as has been reported in other threads, even though I get plenty of results even when all four check-boxes are ticked, the left-hand "All categories" list is empty. I have to untick "Family Trees" in the search for the categories to appear correctly. Otherwise, as well as not seeing the categories listed at the left, clicking the large boxed "CATEGORIES" heading instead of "RECORDS" just gives me a blank area instead of the result categories and match counts.
All very weird. I hope the May maintenance work will fix this, but I'm not very optimistic :-(
