@Elizabeth O'Donnell, thank you for the information. Before I take this step, are you sure it applies to this situation? A FTM support rep indicated it's a widespread problem, and in my case, the program opens normally but has a problem with the web search window. Again, thank you! I'm only hesitating because I went through so much troubleshooting already with no fix and hesitate to tinker with the program again if it's an issue MacKiev needs to address.

Re: "Your Search returned zero good matches"
I would advise caution.
We know that the Ancestry website has been experiencing a variety of issues over the last several weeks. Until the website is functioning normally, I would be cautious making changes.

Re: FTM/Ancestry Search Issue
Been having this problem since yesterday and it is driving me nuts. I even did a backup of my tree and tried uninstalling and re-installing. Nope, does not fix this bug.

Same here, been getting this message since yesterday.

Re: "Your Search returned zero good matches"
My FTM web search is working properly again. The fix in my case was the installation of the update to version 23.1. I just recently purchased and installed FTM 2017 (on April 27th) and wasn't aware of the update. I thought that since there were no updates available in FTM, I had the current version. It could be my imagination after getting the error message for the past day, but it seems that the search function is working faster and smoother than version 23.0.

Re: "Your Search returned zero good matches"
@terripa2az1 - Holy COW, I thought I had the latest version as well since my FTM was saying it was up-to-date, but upon checking, it was 23.0 something.
I just updated to 23.1 and I'm almost afraid to say it, but my search is working again! How did you figure this out?
Here is the link for anyone else needing the "mysterious" update.

Re: "Your Search returned zero good matches"
The "check for updates" in FTM does not function, in my experience. The 23.1 update came via email notification. If you purchased after the 23.1 release, the email notice would not have triggered.
The FTM support group on FB has the most recent info, too. https://www.facebook.com/groups/FamilyTreeMakerUsers/

FTM Search Categories
When using the Web Search from within FTM, none of the categories are showing up. Only the Shortcut Keys shows. This is not an issue with the search using Ancestry online. I believe the problem started after the last Windows 10 update.
Any others experiencing the same problem? Solutions?

Re: "Your Search returned zero good matches"
@hasanders - I was browsing the message boards and saw a thread regarding an update that resolved a problem with syncing, and that's what started my update journey :) It turned out I had gotten an email regarding the update among several other emails MacKiev sent the night I downloaded FTM, but I missed it. They even put the subject line in all caps and I still missed it! lol
This is the list of emails I received from MacKiev on 4/27. I should have paid closer attention :)

Re: "Your Search returned zero good matches"
Had a similar problem recently and found the "exact matches only" box was checked on the search form.
Other than this I have noticed that searching in a web browser gives different (i.e. more) answers from searching via FTM - have reported this problem but no response as yet. I am already running 23.1

I'm having the same problem as is my cousin who lives in a different state. Has FTM or Ancestry responded to this problem?

Search problem workaround ancestry.co.uk
I have been having lots of problems with searches which seem to be because the search form built into FTM 2017 is not the same as the one that currently comes up for ancestry in a web browser. This causes FTM to miss some results, and the 'all results' button takes you back to the wrong place.
After some experimenting this is my workaround - hopefully MacKiev will sort the problem out properly in the near future.
Click on web search as normal.
With the default Ancestry site selected in the left hand panel, type a new search address in the address bar ... https://www.ancestry.co.uk/search/
and hit return.
This brings up the latest web search page with all the latest fonts.
It won't be filled in but if you have an online tree it will try to select details from that as you type into the name box.
Continue as usual - you should be able to merge results that you find.
This also makes the 'All results' back button work properly.
To save typing create a new personal favourite site pointing to the web page and just use Ctrl-C to copy the address from the address bar then paste with Shift-Ins once you are back to the default site selection.
NB If you move from the default ancestry page to the new one it doesn't update the page because it thinks it hasn't changed (although the reverse is not true for some reason). Just select a different site in between and then it forces it to refresh when you select your new ancestry site.
You might think creating a new personal site would work without the faffing about, but it won't let you merge unless it thinks you are on the default site.

Re: FTM Search Categories
Yes - I have been getting this. I think all these problems with search are related (and caused by an out of date web address built into FTM somewhere). See my post from earlier today re. a workaround to these problems.

Re: FTM Search Categories
Just read on the FTM Facebook page that if you unclick the Family Trees option in search options the categories return (minus Family Trees, of course). Tried it and it works.

@BurgessDonnelly thanks for the link to the FTM FB group. :) I did in fact receive the email, but missed it, just as @terripa2az1 did. Yep, it was in ALL CAPS. haha! I am so used to doing searches within FTM, albeit frustrating at times for various reasons, but am trying to get used to more searches directly on Ancestry...

Re: FTM Search Categories
The same thing is happening on Macs so it is not a Windows 10 issue.
