"It appears the online tree has been deleted" happens when FTM and Ancestry lose track of each other. Close FTM, wait a little until it is completely shut down, and start it up again and the connection...

Yes, you're right. I couldn't pick up "Mar" or "Sep" in a date field. They must be kept internally as numbers, which makes sense from a systems and database perspective.
