I use FTM 2012 on my PC laptop to store my "master" tree and grow it from keyed-in additions or from the "shaking leaves" ... and then upload. I only use the Ancestry online synced version to download media and stories.
Consequently, I can use my iPad or Android phone to access the "cloud" to find any media/story matches while watching TV. Despite all the reported glitches, I have had stable sync'ing and relatively trouble free FTM work for my 4 Trees totaling about 14,000 people for the past year.
