*******"1- I create the proof document in MS Word format
2- I attach to the MS Word document any images I have collected to help prove what I am trying to prove 3- I convert the total document to PDF using Adobe Acrobat"*****

This is what I am doing in Word Perfect. Instead of Adobe Acrobat, I am using one of the Free PDF printers.

*******"4- I OCR the resulting total document so it is searchable"*****

This I don't understand. Why not just copy the contents of the MS documents to a FTM Text document (Smart Store)

Or when you say searchable are you using it in some other way.

*******"5- I store the PDF document in a file on my computer
6- I then link the PDF document to my Media file on/in FTM 2012"*****

This is what I am considering doing.

*******"5- I create any sources/source attributes that are needed and link them to my FTM 2012 data base "*****

Do you use the attached media file as the source, ie it probably has many references?

In the original summary I include complete references and images of the portion of the document that is applicable to my discussion.

I have considered using the FTM word processor for my Summaries, but it is not as flexible as Word Perfect. I have tried to copy the original WP summary into a Smart Story, but find I have to paste any images independent of the text.

If the FTM word processor ever became a full blown word processor that would change things, but I guess in the mean time, being able to attach an MS Doc file to the tree would be a step in the right direction.

I like the security of the PDF, document over the word processor document. It seems like a reference document should not be editable.
