Thank you ALL for replying.
I have my sync set to manual and even when I only make one change, for example I add one census to one person in my FTM tree, I now don't have a check mark. I click on the icon to sync and away it goes. Eventually I get the yellow banner at the top that says the sync was successful, but I don't have a check mark. That's usually when I try all the other stuff I mentioned above. Even without the check mark though, I'll check my on-line tree and the census will be there. So that's why I don't know what's going on; it appears to have synced, just didn't give me a check mark for some reason.
As to the children being out of birth order, I understand how children from my on-line tree being synced into my FTM tree would/could be out of birth order. What I can't understand is why random families that were previously in correct birth order and were not being changed/touched either on-line or in FTM are getting out of order. It's my understanding that once both tress are in sync the only changes made during subsequent syncs are just with the differences and everything else is left alone.
So it's rather bothersome to have to keep running Data Error Reports and correcting birth order on children that haven't be touched or worked on since the last time I fixed it.
Oh well, REALLY getting to know my family by having to "play" with them so much.
