Hi ALL!
I have been working with FTM2012 for a couple of months now and really like how powerful it is and all the different features and flexibility it has over the on-line tree and older version of FTM that I had.
What I'm having a problem with is the birth order of the children in a family. I'm printing out a descendancy chart for a person and want all the children in each successive family to be in their birth order. I run a Person Error Report and set it up to check ALL the descendants of my person, get the results, correct the birth order where necessary, then run my Descendancy Chart for that same person. Everything looks good. Now here's where I run into problems; I close my program. I come back later, open up that family, make some change for one or two people, run a Person Error Report and have a LOT of people with their children out of birth order. These aren't even people that I was making changes in. Why is this happening? Could the Syncing between my FTM Tree and my on-line Tree be what's changing the birth order?
I will say, not as thrilled with the sync as it doesn't give me a check mark when it says that the sync is complete and sucessful. I need to do all kinds of things (compact, close program, shut down computer, any combination of these) to get the sync to actually give me a check mark. What's strange is I've made one change or added one document in either FTM or on-line, run the sync, get the yellow banner that says it is complete and sucessful, and not gotten a check mark; but when I look for the one thing I changed, it's there. So I don't know what's going on with the check mark thing.
