Assuming the Mac version is like the Windows version, whatever is in the place field and description field should be synchronized. As for how you should do it, that's up to you. I think it's designed for people to do city, county, state, country and to put any other qualifying information in the description field. It is, however, flexible. There is nothing to stop you from putting a cemetery name before a city. When you do that, Bing maps (the map thingee in the Places workspace of the Windows version) will usually find it, but FTM has a more limited database of place names. You can just choose to ignore those warnings.
