Russ, not looking for a fight, but the facts are not as you state. Citation media files from ancestry.com ARE downloaded and included in the Family Tree Maker file. As proof, I currently have hundreds of census images on my PC that Family Tree Maker downloaded. Census images from 1900, 1910, 1940, 1880, etc. These were downloaded because in the Ancestry.com version of my tree, I accepted the "hints" to add source citations to these censuses for many individuals in my tree. And if you want to force these media images to download, you can use the CTRL-F5 feature while in Family Tree Maker 2012's media collection screen. Search the help online and there's a couple of articles on how to either download an individual image, or the whole kit and caboodle. But my experience is that these images start downloading on their own while the media is syncing. I don't necessarily have to use the CTRL-F5 feature.
I'm not sure what AMT is. Please define your acronyms the first time you use them (cardinal rule for all of us who work in the military).
I know what a source citation is, I know what a source is, and I know what a media item is, and I understand the difference. I know that a media item can be linked to either a source or a source citation in Family Tree Maker. I am also aware that a media item cannot be linked to a source in the Ancestry.com version of the tree; it can only be linked to the source citation. (Try to look at a media item in the Ancestry.com version of the tree that in your FTM tree you linked only to the source, but did not link to any of that source's citations. There's no way to see it. Nor is there a way on Ancestry.com to add a media item to the source itself. Only to source citations). Therefore, it is incorrect to say that "the data is all there."
Again, not sure what AMT stands for. I could hazard a guess. Maybe "Ancestry Messeduponsyncneedssomeoneto Teachthemhowtoprogramawindowsapplication"?
Thanks any ways.
