Re: Hidden FTM 2012 Notes inside GED file

ginglish1 - excellent thoughts. Not solved, but the publish report did show both set of notes.
I've been using FTM since it first came out. I upgraded to 2012 from a version that was 2 or 3 generations older. I don't recall exactly the version, 2010 rings a bell, if there was such a version. I've tried every place a Note shows up from individual to fact notes to no avail. It's not harming anything that I can see - yet.
An earlier post asked how I create the GED. I routinely export my file sans media to a GED file from FTM2012 and earlier versions when I had them. I parse through the file with a Visual Basic program I wrote to put together two comma separated files of only the parts I'm interested in (Individuals and Families files). I then upload the CSV's to my website for inclusion into a database there. Then I can display my Family Tree creation there for my Family and extended Family to look through. It's password protected for their eyes only. This was done prior to FTM creating the linking of their program and web display. Mine, has always shown the individual notes. Which is where I started to discover that the changes to the notes I made within FTM did not show up on my website. I went looking and found the duplicate set of notes. One the older-original ones that don't change and the newer version.
If anyone is interested in it, I've exported Grand Uncle Waldo Karcher to a single person ftmb file. Open it in FTM then, as you suggested, create a Notes report and you can see both notes. The first one is the old one. The second one is the one accessible via the FTM program interface.
Oops, it won't let me attach a ftmb file, only GED.
Interesting results: when I created a GED of just Waldo and opened it with FTM 2012 I don't get the exact same result as opening an exported ftmb file. Both notes are still there in the Publish Individual Notes report, but they are reversed. The newer note shows up first, there's no separation between the newer and older note and it's now the older note that is accessible via the FTM program interface. Very curious. I tried to attached two files in a zip. One was the GED file, the other was a pdf printout of the notes report from my original ftm file. Unfortunately, again, the website tells me that only GED files are valid attachments to this post. So attached is only the GED file on one individual.
Cheers all
Bob Karcher
