My question is how does this translate to the online Ancestry.com tree when you sync your Family Tree Maker 2012 tree onto Ancestry.com? Where does the media show up in the online tree if you linked the media to a source citation, vs if you linked it to a source? How accessible is that media to others?
I think I'm noticing that media cannot be attached to a source in Ancestry.com online trees. It can only be attached to a source citation. Not completely sure on this, but that seems to be my initial experience. I wish Ancestry.com and Family Tree Maker 2012 were apples-to-apples in this regard. Why do they approach things differently? For example, in Family Tree Maker 2012 you put nicknames in the "Also Known As" field, and then you can include those in your printouts. But try searching for someone by nickname in your online tree. Forget it! In this regard, Family Tree Maker 2006 was better.
