My question pertains to the “two separate data bases” statement
As background I only have one data base and it is FTM 2012 and I don’t upload or synch to any online system [so I really don’t know the answers to the questions posed below]
The FTM 2012 data base (on my hard drive) has X number of input fields for which I can enter data and each of these input fields has a unique name
The data base that is online has Y number of input fields (and I assume each of them has a unique name)
My questions are these:
1- Is the number X exactly the same as the number Y?
2- Are the names of the fields in X exactly the same as the names of the fields in Y?
3- If the answer to question 1 is NO, then how do they “map” the FTM version to the online version and vice versa [I assume they have to “map the fields” otherwise how would you be able to synch the two data bases/systems]
4- If the answer to question 2 is NO, then how do they rename the fields [when a synch is performed] so that the names of the fields in the online systems stay consistent with what they were before synching? Also, if the answer is NO how do they keep the names of the Fields in the FTM version consistent with what they were before synching?
A general question: If either question 1 or question 2 is NO, then doesn’t this cause potential problems in manipulating the input data and/or outputting reports
An associated question if the answer to either question is NO, then are the capabilities of the two systems/databases different EG, can the user get reports out of the online system which they can’t get from the FTM 2012 version and vice versa?
