Re: FTM 2012 backward compatibility with FTM 2006?

On double checking, the following is from the ancestry website. I believe that if you have a CD, you are "on your honor" about how many times to install it. But, the electronic version apparently locks up after the second installation.

Which begs the question for electronic downloads. What happens if you buy an electronic download for two computers, then replace them a later with two new computers?

Another consideration is how to use your ancestry subscription with more than one computer. That license is for one computer - logged on at any one time. You normally would want to log out of a computer (not x out) to free up the second computer. You can run into problems if you are logged into ancestry.com at home and then take your laptop somewhere and you want to log on to ancestry.

Will I be able to purchase one electronic copy of Family Tree Maker and install it on multiple computers?

The License Agreement for the electronic version of Family Tree Maker is the same as that of the CD version; you are allowed to install the software on two computers in your own home.

Why would I want to pay for more than one electronic copy of Family Tree Maker?

Each electronic copy of Family Tree Maker that you purchase has its own unique serial number which you must enter prior to use. Per serial number, Family Tree Maker can be installed on two computers in your own home. If you want to install the software on more than two computers, you will need to purchase additional copies of Family Tree Maker.
