1- Started with a PDF file that had both text as a lead in [simulating your proof] and JPEG’S converted to PDF’s [simulating the back up to your proof]
2- Opened the PDF and then attempted to copy and paste the opened version into the Smart Story- No luck—only the text was copied
3- DID NOT OPEN THE PDF and then attempted to copy and paste the unopened copy into the Smart Story – No luck – could not find a way to paste it
4-Converted the PDF to MS Word, opened the MS Word document, and attempted to paste it into the Smart Story ----This worked [just as it worked in previous post] ---caveats ----quality not all that good [because of too many conversions] and again Smart Story portion emanating from the MS Word document was “live”
BOTTOM LINE
I could find no way to place a PDF document into a Smart Story without first converting it to MS Word
