Obviously you're right in principle. Having looked at the advice, however, it doesn't inspire me with any confidence. Telling people to disable firewalls (even the basic Windows ones) is plain irresponsible.
I agree that trying to (potentially) teach every user how to set up their particular firewalls for their particular operating systems is impossible, of course. But unless everyone trying that remembers it is a very temporary measure and must be re-enabled immediately, they could end up in a whole heap of trouble!
