“I have never used the Media in FTM 2012. I realized yesterday that the conclusion that I have written to prove several relationships would fit nicely into the FTM Media. The PDF file is text and images of the documents use to create that proof.”
Keith I have many documents I have created to prove some relationship/fact/etc
The way I handle it is a follows:
1- I create the proof document in MS Word format
2- I attach to the MS Word document any images I have collected to help prove what I am trying to prove
3- I convert the total document to PDF using Adobe Acrobat
4- I OCR the resulting total document so it is searchable
5- I store the PDF document in a file on my computer
5- I create any sources/source attributes that are needed and link them to my FTM 2012 data base
6- I then link the PDF document to my Media file on/in FTM 2012
I have quite a few of these – some of them are over a few hundred pages in length – but it works just fine
And as Johndd189 says---------If I want to look at the document in my Media file I just click on it and it opens with Adobe
Note: I am not advocating you use this technique, I am just saying this is what I do
The above process will show the reference to the proof in the Bibliography of Sources
I am not completely sure this will work, but if you have/keep your entire proof document in MS word format you can create a so-called Smart Story and paste the document into the Smart Story and it will open up in Text Format
I have not done this with my proofs, but I always create my so called smart stories in MSWord and then copy and past them into the FTM 2012 Smart Story and they work just fine – and this seems to be no different so it should work
