I just worked my way out of this and thankfully it happened after the latest (704) update patch.
I had a couple of days of new data added to the AMT tree since my last sync/backup - about a weeks worth of new data since my last successful manual backup.
The more recent sync/backup could not help me recover the last two days worth of input on the AMT tree but the following steps brought everything up current.
1st : compacted FTM file allowing backup first and then compact - (reduced file size by 0.91%)
2nd : shut down FTM2012
3rd : reopened FTM2012
4th : "no-connection" status was gone and "need sync" was once again available with all 32 share IDs showing
5th : synced with original AMT tree and all now appears good.
Note : should manually backup at close of daily session and compact often. The "Restore" function would have been nice to have had a year ago! - before we all had to cut existing links and then upload/download so many times to "fix" the many early-on programming glitches.
