kj_norway,
A while ago, I had entered a number of my books into the Family Tree Maker Program. At that point, the term was Master Source. (Source, in FTM2012). They were sitting there for me to work on at some time in the future.
Back then, if you Exported a GEDCOM file, those Master Sources were included in the GEDCOM file and I didn't want that, so I deleted them. I only enter a new SOURCE when I am ready to work with it. When I pick up or find a new source, before I do anything, I create the source and put it into the Template format.
From there, its a matter of entering Citations.
At the same time, I don't have to do anything to that Source until I am ready. Not sure I understand the "infinate wisdom" issue.
There is a Source Report and there is a Media Usage Report. Both are in the Publish Workspace.
