Re: Hidden FTM 2012 Notes inside GED file

I would suggest:

1) Export to GECOM.
2) Open the GEDCOM in a text editor like MS-NotePad (NOT a word processor!).
3) "Find" the NOTE (the @N...@ value) in question. It should be in two places in the GEDCOM file. a) with a line number greater than "0" b) with a line number = "0"
4) The note greater than "0" is where the note reference association is and the one = "0" is tha actual note.
5) If as you say the line number = "1" then the note reference can only come from the Individual or Family record and must be found on the individual NOT on a fact, source_citation or anything else.
6) to determine the place it is associated with (if it is a "1" then travel up the GEDCOM file until you reach the first "0", this is the key for that individual or family. If it is an individual then just below it should be the name of that individual. If it is a family then, you have more work cut out for you.
7) If the number on the NOTE is NOT a "1" then post as much as you can from the NOTE and up to the next "0" that you can and I'll take a look.

You should be able to have multiple NOTE records associated with an individual (at the indivitual level), I do this all the time, but have never checked to see if FTM actually supports this concept, GEDCOM does.

I can check this later.
