Did you know there is a Family Tree Maker [Mac] board? It is hard to find because for some reason for some people it is way down at the bottom of the list instead of alphabetically.
That being said, in windows this is what I do. If you click on the number 3 you should see a choice of 3 spouses, two that you know and one that says no spouse, or some weird thing. You have to name that "extra" spouse something that you can find easily.. someone else suggested using a number, so that it will come at the top of your list.
Then you use the "merge two individuals" wherever that is on your program, merging a real spouse with this fake spouse. Of course discard everything to do with the fake spouse. That should reduce your number of spouses to the correct amount.
