I assume this is still true in FTM 2012, I experienced the problem in FTM 16.
There is one thing about cutting and pasting into FTM that was not mentioned. When you copy something from a website it copies everything not just the characters you see. These unseen characters can do strange things in an FTM field. There are 256 ASCII characters but but less than 100 that appear on screen as characters. Many of the rest are control codes.
These character can actually make FTM appear to abort unnaturally, but what happens is there is a series of unseen characters in the string, that when hit by some functions of FTM are read as the code to close the program. They also can make the program appear to hang, or cause printing problem.
While it is tempting to cut and paste you should run the string through an text word processor like MS notepad to remove these extraneous characters.
This comes from experience. When I first got FTM I cut and pasted a lot of information into facts, etc. It took me many hours to find the errors in my FTM database, and remove the string or replace the facts, etc to get rid of the error.
