In FTM 2012, what is the effect of making a parental relationship private when syncing to Ancestry? Is the relationship excluded from public view? Are all relationships which depend on that one, also excluded from public view?
An example-- I had a cousin Mary who married John, and they had children and grandchildren. I want to include John and these cousins in my public tree.
During my research, I found information about John’s family. I entered his parents, siblings, grandparents, cousins, etc. in my FTM tree. However, I do not want to include this family in my public tree on Ancestry.
If I make the relationship between John and his parents private, will this exclude his parents from public view? By making this one parental relationship private, will it also exclude all of his other family members (who are not related to me)?
In effect (for purposes of syncing to a public Ancestry tree), does this accomplish the same objective as detaching?
