I too have had this issue and have it again now. I bit the bullet and Unlinked a while back (maybe 3-4 months ago) and was doing fine. I like to use my Ipad FTM app most of the time. But a few days ago I went back to using FTM on my desktop computer and sure enough, the dreaded "An error has occurred..." message shows up again.
My frustration is why, after all these months of documented failures, has A.Com not been able to correct this problem? Reading many of Russ's replies, (and I don't know if he officially represents A.Com or not), it seems he focuses on interpreting what people have written, or are trying to say, rather than admitting that there is a real problem with syncing.
At this point I really like Peter's method of just Unlinking and re-downloading from A.com, or if one primarily uses FTM, then re-uploading TO A.com.
But as another said, for $300+ a year, we should expect better.
Come on Ancestry.com, can we get a fix please?
John
