Saying it is slow is a complement Saying it is unusable is correct. I have been using an older version of FTW (version 9) for years. I got up to around 18,000 names and it started crashing and losing all of the recent work. So I tried family tree builder. It was a little slow and I didn't care for the pretty format. I decided to download FTW 2012 yesterday and guess what? I think FTW 2012 is a rip off of the FTB design only about 20 times slower. If might work for someone who may have 32 relatives in their tree but for serious researcher it is total failure. One example, is that it took about 30 min to run a 5 page report. A full 12 generation report too about four hours. For the record, I run XP and have plenty RAM and disk space. Does any one know what the last good version of FTW was before they changed to the new slow format? I.am going to back tract or change to FTB.
