Michael Smith comment
"...who posted are concerned it may be done and dusted."
Michael this is not done and dusted. It is a big problem area. And has been discussed on many many threads.
My general thoughts include:
1-Users should continue to point out the issues with this area and send in specific suggestions to the development group on things that need to be fixed
2-Users should be very very careful in attempting to develop workarounds to some of these issues. Someday [hopefully]the development group will fix some of the problems and the workaround(s) that somebody used may come back to bite them, because the fix instituted by the development group affects/overrides/creates additional problems/bugs for the user [A small example, your example
North Adelaide, South Australia, Australia
Suppose [your workaround] you went to say Wikipedia and found this location and found its coordinates and entered its name and its coordinates in your data base -- everything would look OK, except it wouldn't show as resolved. Now suppose you did this workaround for many other places. Now suppose some day the development group enters the "correct" information about these places and to make it a little complicated suppose some of their corrdinates disagree with the coordinates in your workaround. They have no idea of the workarounds you performed. So what are they going to do? I don't know, but you could end up withmany instances of two places with the same name but different coordinates, or they could just skip by your workaround and leave it alone, in which case your coordinates would disagee with theirs and if you entered that place again after their fix you could create a new place with different coordinates, etc, etc ]
