The box for Non-Vital info has nothing to do with the issue. The choice for: "List non-vital facts separately" is a choice of whether to arrange non-vital facts in paragraph form, or each fact on a separate line.
___________________
As to your example.
Do you have non-vital facts entered for your married daughter's HUSBAND (say a military fact, for example). Do you have notes under your daughter's HUSBAND? If not, enter something.
Now, with Items to include to include all facts (or at least the facts the husband has) and notes checked, run a Genealogy report with yourself as the selected person.
If your married daughter has no children, her husband's notes and non-vital facts will not be reported by the Genealogy Report (but hers will be - in generation 1).
If your married daughter has children, her husband's notes and non-vital facts will be reported by the Genealogy Report - both will be in the next generation 2.
