Speaking to McKiev online help it appears that this problem is to do with the number of boxes you have ticked at the bottom of the search page whan you do a new search.

If you tick just one of the 'Historical Recored'; 'Family Trees'; 'Stories & Publications'; or 'Photos & Maps' boxes the search works as it should and returns the correct results.

There are some combinations of two boxes that works but ticking all four boxes for some reason stops the search working.

At least this is a workaround while they fix the problem.
