I may have missed something in the discussion, but have you tried using the "Archive Web Page" in FTM2012 Websearch window instead of just saving the link? You can create a media type for archived web pages that will allow you to run media usage reports for the archived web page. This will also allow you to capture what you found on the webpage even when the original site disappears.
To archive a web page:
When you have found a page that you want to archive, click Create page archive .
The archive will be saved as a Multipurpose Internet Mail Extension HTML file with a ".mht" extension. This saves all of the components needed to view the file in a single, stand-alone file that you can open in an Internet browser even when you are not connected to the Internet.
