I bought FTM 2012 back in September which is my first FTM upgrade in some time, although I have used it for at least 15 years or more. I do love the software, but I was not pleased with the service offered to me by both Ancestry.com and Nova Development during an incident where my laptop went out for a period of time. I installed the software on another computer to use and then I was able to fix my original laptop and tried reinstalling. It gave me an error like I had tried installing when no more reinstalls was allowed. I contacted Ancestry.com and they said all I could do was contact Nova. When I spoke to a lady at Ancestry about it the first time, she even said I might have to buy the software again which was very upsetting. It took me several weeks to even get Nova to respond and answer my question, but they finally gave me another code to use during installation. However, their tone in the email did not make me feel any better. I have not tried this code as I am planning to buy a new laptop after the first of the year and I am afraid that I may run into the same problem again.
I realize the need to protect your software, but I feel this went overboard. The software was only used by myself on one computer and the runaround I received from Nova Development almost make me never to do business with Ancestry.com again.
